Elecampane – Inula Helenium – Horse Heal, Elfwort, Elfdock
Potted plant in 10cm pot. Grown from seed this spring at our Devon nursery in peat free compost following sensitive practices.

A tall robust member of the daisy (Asteracece) family. A Wildflower perennial is great for pollinators with lovely yellow small sunflower like flowers. with historical uses as a health tonic and remedy for ailments, traditional uses culinary. Grows 3-6ft tall and 3ft wide.
~ Leaves can be HUGE up to 2ft!
~ The root has been used historically since Ancient Greek and Roman times – the name Inula Helenium reputedly being owed to Helen of Troy whos ‘sprang its flowers from her tears’
~ Roots said to attract fairys into gardens and houses – and treat medieval condition ‘Elfshot’ – shot by Elf’s arrow- hence common name Elfwort.
~Enjoys full sun to part shade, happy in any soil.
